(Tropaeolum minus) Annual. A Victorian heirloom with deep red, regal flowers. These compact plants grow about 1’ high and provide cascading blooms from summer to fall.

Edible leaves and flowers make a lightly spicy garnish and wonderful addition to salads.

A beautiful choice for hanging baskets.

Planting Instructions:
Sow outside 1-2 weeks after average last frost. Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last spring frost. Large seeds are easy to sow directly in the ground.

Additional Tips:
To aid germination, rub seed with nail file or soak in warm water for up to 24 hours and plant immediately.

Seed requires darkness to germinate.

Cutting off the faded/dead flowers will prolong blooming.

Harvesting:
Harvest leaves and flowers as soon as they are ready to garnish salads or other dishes, or cut them for a vase.

Companion Plants:
Plant with cabbage, cucumbers, squash and herbs. Helps in repelling whitefly and cabbage caterpillars.
