(Origanum heracleoticum) Perennial. Greek Oregano is the true culinary oregano type. It’s highly aromatic flavor brings depth and complexity to many cuisines. Superb with fresh tomatoes, breads, pastas, and of course, pizza.

Greek oregano is easy to grow from seed and requires little maintenance. Dark green foliage produces a multitude of small white flowers in summer that are wonderful for bees and other pollinating insects.

A good container variety that can also be grown indoors.

Planting Instructions:
Start indoors 6-8 weeks before average last frost. Transplant when temperatures are consistently about 45° F. Sow outside 2-4 weeks after average last frost.

Additional Tips:
Oregano is easy to grow from seed and tolerant of poor soil.

Oregano seed requires some light to germinate. Cover seeds very lightly with soil when planting.

The flowers should be pinched to keep the plants bushy and prevent them bolting to seed.

Harvesting:
Once the plant has reached about 6” tall, you can start cutting sprigs for use. Harvesting just before the plant flowers will provide the best flavor.

Companion Plants:
Oregano grows well with just about everything in the garden. Helps to deter cabbage moths and cucumber beetles.
Plant with cabbagecucumbers.
